I moved back to Singapore in 2020 in the middle of the Covid-19 lockdown. I was living alone, my mental health was in a terrible mess and I didn’t know what to do next. I was completely lost. But, as difficult as the lockdown was, much good came from it. I had time to rest, time to think and time to grow. “Coffee”, “Chewie”, “Cha Cha Cha”, symbolise the few constants I had in a world thrown into chaos. From these constants, I derived comfort, conviction and confidence. “Coffee” – my constant companion. The smell of coffee gets my senses going first thing in the morning and I know I’m ready to start my day… come what may. “Chewie” – my comfort. When we get so caught up in our thoughts or have bad news thrown at us, we must remember to refocus our energy on those who love us – they’re the ones who help us get through things, more than we realise. “Cha Cha Cha” – my confidence. This is me taking care of me. Slowing down, looking up at the sky and taking a deep breath, I shuffle through life’s ups and downs, realising that I thrive and connect with the beauty of creation around me.
