Palatable Palettes

With kids running around the house, fast-drying acrylic has been my ideal choice of medium. The smell of turpentine and smeared fingerprints of oil on the walls are less ideal. Painting from home comes with both benefits and distractions. Often times, the paint is left to harden on my palettes before I get a chance to properly work on my canvas. And like a true housewife, I learn to make do with leftovers. There’s something about these dried-up streaks and solidified globs of colour that still seem palatable to me. And even though I should take this as a cue to handle my material sparingly, part of me revels in the freedom in the ‘excess’ of my process and its ‘reusable residue’.
