Zhong Ping Kopitiam; Tanjong Katong Road, Singapore

When I was at an especially low period in my life, Zhong Ping was my local kopitiam where I could disappear for an hour over a $0.90 kopi. I hadn’t been for several months, and when I stopped by one Saturday last October, the boss came over and asked if I was still making prints and if I would do a print of them because they’d lost their lease and were closing the next Monday after 13 years. It was never a question in my mind to bring them comfort when they had done the same for me.
