John Mathis
John Mathis is the artist behind Tatsu Maker Works Studio, a producer of limited edition linocut prints of his daughter’s stories and Singaporean food heritage. He moved to Asia from America in 2003, and then to Singapore in 2009. Through the years he has worked in meats, plastics, and in oil & gas across dozens of countries, ‘making, fixing, or selling something or other’. Most recently he spent ten years in advertising, directing campaigns and guiding creative communications across Asia-Pacific.
From early pieces in watercolour, coloured pencil, and collage, John migrated to linocut printmaking, where he found a medium “where I can keep telling my journey with my daughter and our shared stories together, and hopefully reach out to a wider audience”.
